Abstract: Canal construction has been used as better solution that substitute for tunnel At NamPia hydropower project. During operation work, the owner requested contractor to using some advanced technologies in blasting to ensure the quality of canal’s construction to ensure the slope stability and decreasing the danger of over break. We have proposed some blasting methods and calculation to establish suitable blasting passports for usage during the course of canal construction. This paper presents some results obtained from actual blasting works at the canal site as enhancing excavating speed and ensuring all required blasting targets.
Abstractt: soil-bentonite slurry wall is widely used to control seepage due to low permeability deformation compatibility with surrounding soil. To gain low permeability (<10-7 cm/s) it is necessarry to choose suitable gradation of soil-bentonite mixture. Obtained result shows that when 5% Trugent bentonite or 8-10% local bentonite was added the above mentioned value of permeability can be reached as required. The permeability coefficient does’nt change much within the range of soil bentonite mixture's slump of 12.5-17.5 cm.
